Writing the short play with Little Pieces of Gold
A series of five playwriting workshops focusing on the short play. The aim is to enable you to develop your playwriting skills, nurture your writer’s voice and investigate what makes a great short play.
The workshops will be an opportunity to:
– engage with playwriting practice by investigating style, premise, theme, structure, characterisation and dialogue
– share work (only if participants choose to)
– free associate and experiment through playwriting exercises in order to generate ideas
– watch two readings of LPoG produced plays led by a theatre director
Short play showcases are thriving so writing a short piece is an excellent way to develop your playwriting skills and get your work seen. New writing nights can kickstart writing careers as events are frequently attended by producers, directors and literary agents. Writing the short play and being involved with a showcase event is also a brilliant way of collaborating with other theatre makers and forging creative relationships going forward.
